For example, skin cells known as fibroblasts, can renew themselves around fifty times in a young person, but in someone 80 years old, this capacity decreases to just two to four times, as explained by a specialist.
Our way of life significantly affects how our cells age. While it’s impossible to stop this process, we can certainly slow it down, primarily through our diet. One ingredient, in particular, can speed up the aging process: sugar. That’s why it’s essential to be mindful of what we eat.
The expert recommends being careful with certain foods. “Please note, the fruits should be consumed in moderation because they contain a lot of sugar, however natural it is. In the same way, starchy pleats must be reserved for sports. Because, they are certainly slow sugars but once inside the body, they turn into sugar,” he explains.
Alongside a diet that is low in sugar, favoring quality sleep and consistent physical activity can help prevent cellular aging, according to Christophe de Jaeger.
