/ The Iraqi Football Association commented on Sunday on the repercussions of the “tattoo crisis” between the head of the referees committee, Najah Rahm, and international referee Mohammed Tariq Ahmed.

The day before yesterday, Friday, the head of the referees committee of the Iraqi Football Association, Najah Rahm, announced the temporary suspension of international referee Mohammed Tariq Ahmed due to a tattoo that the committee asked him not to reveal more than once during matches.

In this context, Football Association member Ghaleb Al-Zamili told Agency, “The association will gather the two parties this week, inquire about what happened, and address the problem.”

At the same time, Al-Zamili criticized the unsuccessful statements of the head of the referees committee regarding taking a decision in the media and referee Mohammed resorting to the judiciary.

He pointed out that “the Federation believes that such matters should have been resolved within the Referees Committee system and within the walls of the Football Association and under the supervision of the person in charge of the committee and Federation member Rahim Lafta.”

Al-Zamili confirmed that the referees committee supervisor, Rahim Lafta, is considered a representative of the union and will meet with both parties to resolve the issue, not expand the scope of the dispute, and avoid the case reaching the courts.

He continued by saying, “The Federation is busy with important and important matters related to Iraqi football, such as: the double qualifiers, the Asian Championship, preparing the national teams and Iraqi leagues, and others, and problems should not appear at such a time that would hinder its purposeful path to developing Iraqi football.”
