Football Association issues clarification regarding Iraqi fans attending our national team’s match against its Kuwaiti counterpart

The Iraqi Football Association confirmed that it is continuing to communicate with Kuwait regarding the attendance of Iraqi fans at the national team’s match against its Kuwaiti counterpart.

The Federation stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “since the draw for the third stage of the decisive Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup appeared, it has worked with the relevant authorities to secure the presence of Iraqi fans in our national team’s matches outside its home country, and in the official numbers set (8%) of the match stadium capacity, and in accordance with what is in effect for the (guest) team by the International Football Association (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).”
Regarding our national team’s upcoming match in the second round of the second group qualifiers, scheduled against the Kuwaiti national team on September 10, the Federation explained that it “continues to communicate with our embassy in the sisterly State of Kuwait and the Kuwait Football Association in order to secure the presence of Iraqi fans in the match stadium.”
He pointed out that “the Iraqi Federation and our embassy in Kuwait are in continuous contact with the Ministries of Interior in both countries in order to secure Iraq’s share of public attendance according to official correspondence, the last of which was yesterday, and the Iraqi Football Federation is fully aware of this matter.”
