/ On Monday, the Iraqi Football Association Competitions Committee linked the period during which the Iraqi Premier League competitions will be suspended to the results the national team will achieve in the Asian Championship.

Committee member Furat Jabbar told Agency, “The Federation announced, in coordination with the committee, the suspension of the league starting from today, Monday, until further notice, as the return of the competitions depends on the results of the Iraqi national team in the continental championship scheduled to be held on the twelfth of this month in Qatar.”

He explained that “if the team succeeds and achieves positive results in the Asian Championship and qualifies for advanced stages during the competition and reaches the final rounds, the suspension period may reach about 40 days as a maximum time limit, but if it is unable to pass the preliminary rounds, God forbid, the suspension period will be about 20 days.”

He added, “The committee is keen to proceed according to the approach it has set and to complete the league competitions at the scheduled times without causing any delay,” noting that “next season’s league will be more organized and will control the start and end times of the competitions.”
