(ANSA) – REGGIO EMILIA, APRIL 16 – For the first time in the Serie B football championship, on the occasion of the Reggiana-Cosenza match scheduled for Friday evening at the Mapei Stadium-Città del Tricolore, a special audio track will show the sporting event available to spectators with visual disabilities. The initiative will be an experimental test wanted by Ac Reggiana and made possible thanks to the partner company Gis Air Compressors, and Cmt Translations, a company specialized in making the communication process between different codes usable and for this reason the creator of “Connect Me Too” .
This is the audio description system that allows blind, partially sighted and visually impaired fans to enjoy the sporting experience and make them feel an integral part of the event. The service is based on a completely digital platform connected to the 4G network and can be easily used by users using their smartphone. “Connect Me Too” allows the dissemination of a hyper-descriptive radio commentary created by a professional in the sector, capable of telling not only the key event but describing details and nuances, for example what happens off the field or in the stands, and transmitting the atmosphere you breathe.
Reggiana’s initiative is a trailblazer for the Italian Serie B and follows the examples of Milan, Inter, Genoa and Lecce and the Italian national team, as well as Varese in the world of basketball.
The Granata club is sensitive to the issue of visual disabilities and last February, in the championship match against Ternana, they took to the field with shirts bearing the players’ names in Braille alphabet. “It is truly a pleasure that even a Serie B club can offer this service and demonstrates once again how such virtuous activities can be implemented with low costs, representing an important added value for the entire neighboring territory. I congratulate Reggiana”, he said. said Edoardo Gargiullo, UEFA licensing manager of the FIGC. (HANDLE).
