The Freiburg club, beaten 4-1 on Saturday by Bayern Munich, filed an appeal on Monday with the German Football Federation after an incident at the end of the match which could deprive the Bavarians of their victory. Following a confusion in the display of the changes, Bayern found themselves for about twenty seconds with 12 players on the lawn.
The experts had estimated on Saturday evening that the club risked a sanction, possibly the loss of its three points. Or Freiburg, “after intensive discussions at different levels and a legal review”, decided to appeal, according to a press release from the club.

“The competent sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB) will first seek opinions from the parties involved in the procedure,” said the German federation for its part. Once the opinions have been received and assessed, the committee will decide on the further procedure.
