UEFA’s response to the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union endorsing the Super League has been forceful. “Football is not for sale,” declared Aleksander Ceferin, the president of the body that governs European football. “I’m not sure if Madrid and Barcelona know what they are doing. We are united against the Super League, I hope they have a wonderful competition with two clubs,” Ceferin declared in a press conference where they also participated. Javier Tebasthe president of LaLiga, and Nasser Al-Khelaifipresident of Paris SG and the ECA (association that brings together European clubs).
Ceferin has specified that “there is a big difference between the words of the sentence and the press release” issued by A22, the company that promotes the project of another major European football competition, thus challenging the structures of this sport. “They can close whatever they want, they can start this fantastic game with two clubs as soon as possible,” he reiterated.
