Manchester United conceded a draw on the lawn of Fenerbahçe (1-1), on Thursday during the 3rd day of the Europa League, in a game in which the coach of the Turkish club José Mourinho was excluded. On the other grounds, no surprise, only Lyon lost against Besiktas
However, the Mancuniens, who had their third draw in as many games in the competition, opened the scoring thanks to Christian Eriksen (15th), who found Livakovic’s top corner. But Moroccan international Youssef En-Nesyri brought the Turks back to level after their return from the locker room (49th).
After a controversial situation in the area of the Red Devils and a penalty claimed by Fenerbahçe, the French referee Clément Turpin (58th) sent off the coach of the Istanbul club, José Mourinho.
The former Manchester United coach (2016-2018) watched the end of the game from the stands.
Lyon beaten
Dominant for the most part but lacking in realism, Lyon lost at home to the Turkish club Besiktas Istanbul (1-0), with a goal from the Portuguese Gedson Fernandes in the second half.
The second, sent deep by his compatriot Rafa Silva, came to beat goalkeeper Lucas Perri in the 71st minute, shortly after the latter had already saved Lyon’s side by diverting a shot from Italy’s Ciro Immobile on his post (67th).
Amended holder
In Frankfurt, Eintracht defeated the Latvian RFS 1-0. In the German ranks, Aurèle Amenda played the entire game. With his teammates in defence, the player from the Young Boys training center stopped all the opposition’s attempts.
On other European grounds, among the favourites, Nice lost at Ferencvaros (1-0), Real Sociedad beat Maccabi Tel Aviv (1-2), Ajax won 0-3 at Qarabag, Roma beat Dynamo kyiv (1-0), Porto beat Hoffenheim (2-0) and Tottenham beat Alkmaar (1-0).
