Most of the time, star footballers are famous for rolling in gold. In Saudi Arabia, it is even beyond. For their travels, Saudi Pro League players literally hover in flying palaces.

Odion Ighalo, 34, a departing centre-forward from Al-Hilal club, posted on social media a video he made on the plane used by the club for away games.

It is a Boeing 747-400, valued at 200 million euros, which belongs to Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a Saudi billionaire and fervent supporter of Al-Hilal. The latter no longer uses this Boeing since he acquired an A380 which he completely refurbished.

Staging himself during a sequence of about a minute, the Nigerian striker himself seems incredulous at the luxury in which he and his teammates bathe.

The interior space of the aircraft, with an initial capacity of 400 passengers, has been completely redesigned and reveals vast lounges and private spaces, with premium comfort standards and richly decorated.

This summer, the Saudi Pro League, which hosted Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr last season, is hitting the transfer market hard. After Frenchmen Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté joined Al-Ittihad, Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly, the 32-year-old Lionls de la Teranga captain, left Chelsea to join Al-Hilal, where it was presented to the public on Sunday evening.

Before him, former Wolverhampton captain, Portuguese defensive midfielder Ruben Neves, 26, joined Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of 55 million euros.
