Dazn wins the TV rights of the Serie A football championship for the next 3 years, from 2021 to 2024. The streaming platform has purchased packages 1 and 3, from the League, for an amount equal to approximately 840 million euros per season : 7 exclusive races per day (package 1) and 3 co-exclusive races (package 3). Waiting to understand what the terms for the subscription will be and how we will need to equip ourselves to see the next Serie A championship on TV – Sky’s position remains to be defined – the picture relating to Dazn is outlined. The platform and Tim announce that they have signed a distribution agreement which, by extending the existing partnership, will bring the contents of the streaming service to TimVision for the next three years. Dazn will continue the distribution of matches via the internet and has chosen Tim as a strategic partner. Therefore, Tim will be the telephone and Pay TV operator of reference for the offer of Dazn contents in Italy. The new partnership will be active starting from July 2021 and dedicated offers will be reserved for Tim customers for the Dazn service which includes Serie A matches, for a catchment area of approximately 5 million households up to now mainly via satellite.
Dazn believes that fans should be able to access sports content in a simple, flexible and innovative way. Tim will support the migration from satellite to streaming platform, thanks to the Ultrabroadband coverage available in Italy through the fixed network (over 90% of the active fixed lines are already ready to provide UBB access), to which the mobile network is added, the Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and satellite WIFI, making it possible to offer all customers the best user experience.
