The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has extended until December 31, 2025, the tariff benefit in the form of exemption from customs duties for the import of electric vehicles into the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Only citizens of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan can import electric cars duty-free. At the same time, it is not allowed to transfer the right to own and use electric cars to citizens of Russia.

“Extending the terms of the tariff concession in combination with other measures aimed at stimulating the demand for electric vehicles, their production and the development of a network of charging stations will contribute to the widespread distribution of such vehicles,” said Minister of Trade of the EEC Andrey Slyapnev.

The permit for the duty-free import of electric vehicles into the territory of the EAEU country has been in effect since 2009. This year, on December 31, this decision lost legal force.
