Winners of the first leg semi-final against Villarreal (2-0), the Reds took an important step towards the Champions League final, but Henderson did not ignite.
Jordan Henderson, Liverpool captain and midfielder who beat Villarreal 2-0 in the Champions League semi-final first leg, commented on the Reds’ success:It was a very organized team, we knew they were going to make it difficult for us, but it was important to stay positive. We were confident that by continuing to circulate the ball quickly we would manage to find the fault and we did so by scoring two good goals. (The first goal) was a bit lucky, but it was after a nice building phase and sometimes you need a bit of luck against a team with a low block. This was the case on the first goal and it ignited the public and fortunately we were able to score another. The pressure we put on was very good when the ball was lost. From very high up on the pitch, the reaction and willingness to cause them problems was really, really good and it made life difficult for them at times. But they are a good team, the game is not over and it will be a difficult test for Villarreal».
