After the tragedy near Elin Pelin, where a warehouse for fireworks exploded, a team of investigators from the National Investigation Service was formed, which during the past day met and prepared a report on what has been done so far. 7 people from the criminal department are included in it. Marijan Marinov – spokesperson of the National Investigative Service invited viewers in “The Day Begins” on BNT, who were eyewitnesses to what happened near Elin Pelin and can contribute to the clarification of details about the incident, to order the National Investigative Service.
“For now, we cannot build a definitive version until we inspect and study the epicenter,” said Marinov.
There is a guideline, he pointed out, to build versions. There is also clarity about the cause of the explosion, “but I will refrain from shedding light on our direction of work.”
“We have data on the quantities and volumes of the stored substances and the type,” said Marinov.
An examination will determine whether there were ammunition in the warehouse.
“We have information that at the scene of the accident there were many cars stopped and they took pictures. Their recordings would be useful for assembling a common video picture for a timeline of the series of events – explosions and fire,” urged the spokesperson of the National Investigation Service Marian Marinov.
At this stage, no one can say for sure if a record can be retrieved from the warehouse near Elin Pelin, because the servers are located at the epicenter of the events.
Actions on the unraveling of events follow a spiral from the periphery to the center. So far, inspections have been made in safer areas, in the more distant parts. The accident is extremely large-scale,” said Marinov.
Regarding the video recordings, the NSS spokesperson explained that at this time there is no evidence that they were stored in a cloud. He clarified that the most important thing is the view of the epicenter of the explosion. But it will happen only when the employees of the SOBT and the fire department are sure that there is no danger to enter there.
“There are still fires in there smoldering that are over 100, 150 degrees. When those fires cool down and we can go in, then we will do a physical examination of the remains.”
So far, DNA examinations have been carried out, as well as forensic medical examinations.
