“I can no longer stand these controversies, these diversions which prevent the left from being heard” The first secretary of the socialist party Olivier Faure estimated on Tuesday October 17 that the leader of La France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon could not “no longer pretend to be the one who embodies the whole of the left and ecology”.
Mr. Faure specified on France Inter that he would propose to the national council of the PS on Tuesday evening ” a moratorium “ pour “get clarification” without which the socialists “will no longer participate in the Nupes intergroup” in the National Assembly, after the refusal of LFI executives to designate Hamas as an organization “terrorist”.
Ten days after the Hamas attack on Israel, “I’m angry”assured the socialist leader: “For the past week, what have we been talking about? We are talking exclusively about rebellious France, which at one point refused to qualify Hamas as a terrorist organization, which is nevertheless obvious.”.

“A subject with the Mélenchon method”

Created in June 2022 for the legislative elections, the new ecological and social popular union (Nupes) allowed the left to have 150 deputies in the National Assembly, but has also experienced multiple crises.
