São Paulo visited Fortaleza this Thursday (11) and drew 0-0 at Arena Castelão, for the 5th round of the Brasileirão. The result extended Tricolor’s undefeated sequence in the competition to four games, and left the team led by Dorival Júnior with eight points, in 7th place on the table.
In a balanced first half, the first chance of the match was for Tricolor, with Marcos Paulo. After just three minutes, the attacker disarmed the opposing defender and knocked low, dangerously, from the edge of the area. The ball went out to the left of the goal.
At 31, it was São Paulo’s turn to arrive with Calleri. The number 9 made the pivot, leaving it to Wellington Rato, who made a good pass to the attacker inside the area; Calleri hit cross, also to the left of the goal.
In the final stretch of the first stage, Marcos Paulo received with space inside the area and activated Nestor in depth; the number 11 crossed with danger, but no player managed to complete.
After the break, São Paulo had an extra player in the 16th minute, when defender Brítez was expelled, after receiving the second yellow card for missing Calleri.
Tricolor’s best chance in the game came in the 22nd minute. After a nice exchange of passes between Luciano, Gabi and Alisson, the ball was left free for Nestor inside the area. The number 11 crossed over, with his right foot, for a great defense by goalkeeper Kozlinski.
Three minutes later, São Paulo also had ten players, with Nestor being expelled after receiving his second yellow card. The teams sought the goal in the final stretch of the match, but the duel ended in 0-0.
