Apple has launched its Vision Pro glasses in several countries, and it is now possible to purchase the mixed reality device in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore.
This is the first time the product has been offered for sale outside the United States, with pre-orders already being accepted in five additional countries: Canada, Germany, France, Australia and the United Kingdom.
The official sales of the product are scheduled to begin on July 12.
The price of the glasses varies in different countries. In China, for example, the price of the first-class glasses is about 18 percent higher than in the United States, at 29,999 yuan, or about $4,128, compared to the retail price of $3,500 in the United States.
The company began holding training sessions last month, sending hundreds of employees from its international stores to Cupertino, California, to learn how to demonstrate the device to customers.
The Vision Pro, which blends virtual content with real-world scenes around the user, is Apple’s biggest new product in years and has ushered in what CEO Tim Cook has called the era of spatial computing. But the Vision Pro’s steep price tag and lack of compelling applications have made it a niche product.
Apple believes that the Vision Pro smart glasses will be used in the fields of education in video conferences, music production with 3D controllers, in addition to streaming content and playing games online.
