/ The Iraqi Archery Federation announced on Thursday that the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, will host the Asian Championship for men and women next February.

The head of the Iraqi Federation, member of the Executive Office of the Asian Federation, and Secretary-General of the Arab Archery Federation, Saad Al-Mashhadani, told Agency that the upcoming Asian Championship is the first official Asian Championship in the history of the game to be held in Baghdad, indicating that the championship is held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.

He added that the championship is part of the Asian Archery Federation’s programme and its numbers qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Al-Mashhadani pointed out that the participating Asian teams for women and men will compete in two events, namely the convex bow and the compound bow.

It is noteworthy that Iraq recently hosted the eighth Arab Archery Cup Championship in Baghdad, with the participation of 12 teams in the archery and compound events.
