Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg surpassed Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the ranking of the world’s richest people issued by Bloomberg, becoming the third richest person in the world for the first time since 2020.

Musk, who was ranked first in Bloomberg’s rankings in early March, fell to fourth place after Reuters reported that Tesla had canceled plans to produce less expensive cars, which led to a decline in the company’s stock, despite Musk’s denials.

According to Bloomberg, Musk’s wealth decreased by $48.4 billion during 2024 to reach $180.6 billion, while Zuckerberg added $58.9 billion to his wealth to reach $186.9 billion with Meta’s shares rising to new record levels.

This is the first time that Zuckerberg has entered the top three positions in the “Bloomberg” ranking since November 16, 2020, when his wealth was $105.6 billion and Musk’s wealth was $102.1 billion.

The change in the wealth of Musk and Zuckerberg shows how the shares of major technology companies have rebounded, especially in light of artificial intelligence initiatives, compared to the shares of electric car companies that were popular in the past, according to “Bloomberg.”

Tesla shares fell by 34 percent this year, making it the worst performer in the S&P 500 index, as it was damaged by the global slowdown in demand for electric cars, increasing competition in China and production problems in Germany, according to the agency.

Meanwhile, Meta rose 49 percent thanks to strong quarterly profits and the company’s initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, achieving the fifth best performance on the S&P 500 index.
