A ship has left the port in the city of Mariupol and is now making its way east to Russia, for the first time since Moscow conquered the Ukrainian city, the pro-Russian separatist leader in the Donetsk region announced.

A port spokesman said last week that the ship would load 2,700 tonnes of metal in Mariupol, before traveling east to the Russian port city of Rostov-on-Don. Ukraine, for its part, announced that the Russians had looted the shipment of metal to Russia from Mariupol.
