According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health, in the tests for bacteria in the samples from August 1, 2022, results were found in several streams in the north that exceed the recommendations of the Ministry of Health (400 fecal sounds in 100 ml) – a result that indicates the presence of contamination in the water.

The results obtained:

Hasbani: downstream of a hydroelectric station: 580; Estuary to Jordan: 700; Roman bridge: 800
Jordan: Gesher Yosef: 700; The Five Bridge: 1,250; Flame Bridge: 800; Jordan from Atart: 1,150; Bridge of the Aunts: 560; Hori Bridge: 1,000; Eric Bridge: 580

Gateon-Khionon Hahorva: 440

In light of these results, entering the following streams may be dangerous until the obtained sampling results are normal and stable:

• Shanir (Hatsbani) – a hydroelectric station up to the confluence with the Jordan
• Jordan – from Yosef Bridge to Arik Bridge including (Kinneret estuary)
• Nahal El Al
• Nahal HaZaki
• Jilbon – Deborah waterfall
• The hexagon pool
• Nahal Zalmon
• Gaetun – the ruin parking lot

It was also stated that the Ministry of Environmental Protection found no known source of pollution in the streams. According to them, “water quality sampling in a number of streams in the north is carried out from a sample once every two weeks, through Nature and Parks Authority inspectors, at permanent sampling points in the Upper Galilee, the Golan, and the Western Galilee. The points represent: a waterfall, a pond, or a section of a stream. The Ministries of Health and Environmental Protection continue sampling and monitoring, and will update later as much as it takes”.
