The president of the Central Bank of Brazil, Roberto Campos Neto, considers that the climate agenda also concerns Central Banks around the world, since interest rate policy is greatly affected by climatic events that distort prices.

In an interview granted to SheetCampos Neto acknowledged that Brazil’s “narrative” on the green agenda has improved.

“Investors and people understand that there is a concern [en Brasil]that there are projects and what their sequence is,” says the president of the BC.

For the executive, Brazil has an advantage and should be seen as a great producer of goods that use sustainable energy.

“In this reorganization of production chains, Brazil is a serious candidate to attract a lot of investment in products that are made with sustainable energy. Few countries have the conditions that Brazil has.”

According to Campos Neto, BCs around the world had difficulties relating the green agenda to their efforts. But they have come to understand that this is an issue for the monetary authorities.
