Kyle Larin Celebrates (Reuters)
For the second time in its history and the first in 36 years, the Canadian team tonight (Sunday) secured its participation in the World Cup after defeating Jamaica 0: 4 in front of the home crowd. The North American team is recording a super successful campaign for itself as it has lost only once throughout the qualifying round.
The Reds from Maple Land have not had a hard time despite the absence of the prominent star, Alfonso Davis, who is recovering from an injury and has conceded five goals so far in the qualifiers. Canada is the 20th team to secure a place in Qatar. There are now 12 more tickets left: five from Africa, three from Europe, two from North and Central America and two more from the intercontinental playoffs. The struggle in the North American House is in full swing. The U.S., Mexico and Costa Rica will compete for the remaining two tickets.
