Vaikam Vijayalakshmi made her debut as a playback singer in the Tamil film ‘Cuckoo’. Although he had already made his debut by singing songs in the Malayalam film ‘Celluloid’, he became famous only after singing in Tamil films.
His song ‘Soppana Sundhari Nan Thane… Soppana Lokathin Then Thane’ which he sang in the movie ‘Veerasivaji’ and ‘Mannile Eeram Undu Mul Kattil Poovum Undu’ in the movie Jaybeem are the songs that have found a place in the hearts of Tamil fans. Kerala Govt Kerala Sri Award last year.

At what age did you start singing?
Everything for me is Sangeet. I started learning Carnatic music at the age of five. Since then I have been learning music continuously. Because music is like an ocean. No one can learn it completely.

About the new films you sang recently?
In Tamil, I have sung in the films Palace 3 and Neelakanda in both Tamil and Telugu. I have sung in three films in Malayalam. Here are some more pictures.

Which composer still prefers to sing in music?
It has been my long time dream to act in the music of Ilayaraja and AR Raghuman. The day they sing in music will be a happy day for me.
