Berlin – Employees, civil servants and pensioners can get help with their tax returns from income tax relief associations. However, income tax aid associations are not responsible for the self-employed, tradespeople and employees with higher income from self-employment. These professional groups must turn to a tax advisor – income tax aid associations are only allowed to advise on income from employment. Income from rent or capital assets represent a borderline case. Here the annual income must not exceed the sum of 18,000 euros (36,000 for married couples).
