In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the closing of the first edition of FORAF, organized by ARM, Ms. Bouaida noted that this major event was “a great success” both for Morocco and for the Africa, noting that the Forum will play a crucial role in terms of territorial promotion, and promotion of decentralization, but also in terms of bringing together points of view between African countries and brothers.
In detail, she explained, “the internal regulations as well as the road map of the forum were voted on, the president of the forum was elected, the same for the members of the executive bureau, of which Morocco is a member, as well as the reading of the Saïdia declaration which sets out the broad outlines of the road map based mainly on the 2030 Millennium Goals”, adding that “all the elements are there, to carry the voice of local Africa”.
After recalling that this event allowed the Kingdom to share its successful experience of regionalization, Ms. Bouaida assured that the crucial objective being to corroborate the vocation of the Region as a leader in socio-economic, cultural and environmental development. as part of a partnership approach bringing together all public and private development stakeholders across the Region.
And to conclude that the interest of major events, being to create these links, to promote exchange and to capitalize on achievements, recalling in this sense, the need to define the common interest and structure it around a tool operational and accessible to all.
The first Forum of African Regions is organized in collaboration with the United Cities and Local Government Organization of Africa (UCLG Africa), and the Oriental Regional Council, with the support of the Ministry of the Interior (General Directorate of Territorial Communities -DGCT-).
This forum is part of the concretization of the implementation of the decisions taken by the General Assembly of UCLG Africa during the 8th edition of the Africities Summit, held in Marrakech in November 2018.
