In a press release published this Saturday, shortly before 5 p.m., eleven signatories, including six members of Jorge Vilda’s staff and five staff members of the women’s youth teams, submitted their resignation with immediate effect. “Faced with the unacceptable acts of the president of the federation, we have taken the decision to put our positions at his disposal”, concludes the press release.

A new fracture within this Spanish selection which further isolates Luis Rubiales and Jorge Vilda. Long before the events brought media and popular attention to Luis Rubiales, his personality and his actions, it was coach Jorge Vilda who was singled out within his own group.

In 2022, fifteen Spanish internationals had already rebelled and had gone to arm wrestling with Vilda and their federation, demanding more professionalism and pointing the finger at the management and behavior of the coach.
