The auto driver who forcibly married the girl was arrested under the Pokcho Act.
Thanga Paramanandama hails from Kuchanur Thuraisamypuram Upper Street near Bodi in Theni District; (25). The auto driver was forced to marry a 16-year-old girl in May last year. The baby girl was born at Theni Government Medical College Hospital yesterday.
The Bodi All Women Police Station was informed that the baby girl had been born at Theni Government Medical College Hospital. The Bodi Women’s Police went to the hospital and obtained a confession from the girl.
In it, it was revealed that the girl’s parents had forced her to marry him. Following this, the girl’s husband Thanga Paramanandamana was arrested by the All Women Police under the Pokcho Act.
Police have registered a case against the girl’s parents and are investigating.
