Ford itself is no stranger to the issue of turning its commercial vans into race cars. In the 1970s, she toyed with a transit engine with a 500-horsepower race car engine – also called a SUPERVAN – and used by the manufacturer at various events.
But the new electric SUPERVAN is a very different vehicle from both the 1970s vehicle and any modern Ford Transit. The engine power is no less than 2,000 horsepower, which is about twice that of the sporty Tesla Model S Plaid. Power is achieved through four electric motors, meaning the propulsion is for all wheels, and the jump to 100 km / h makes the transit in just two seconds, enough to scare any professional who tries to move plumbing fittings.
According to Ford, the super-transit includes systems that allow switching between several lane modes, including rally mode, skid mode and of course day-to-day driving mode, in the unlikely event that Ford decides to sell the vehicle to the public, or in case a racing driver decides he needs a car.
