The automotive giant Ford had to delay deliveries of several vehicles, including series pickups Fafter running out of its famous blue badges, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Sources told the newspaper that Ford had run out of badges for some models. A company spokesman said it had halted several vehicle shipments as a result. Ford considered 3D printing the missing tags but decided they wouldn’t meet its quality standards.

A source said that the vans are in order F Ford’s, one of America’s most popular vehicle ranges, have been affected by the shortage. On Monday, Ford said it expects 40,000 to 45,000 vehicles to be affected by some parts shortages, with “popular high-demand, high-margin truck and SUV models” disproportionately affected.

The newspaper quoted Michigan company employees as saying that Triver Technologies, the local company that makes badges for Ford, had to stop production last August after it was found to have dumped industrial chemicals into a local sewage system.

The company said on its website that it created tags for the vansF-150 of Ford that were reportedly affected by the shortage. Ford declined to comment to the Journal on whether Triver’s problems caused the shortage.

The issue adds to ongoing supply chain problems in the auto industry, with some semiconductors still in short supply, forcing manufacturers to fit them into vehicles after they roll off the assembly line.

Ford isn’t the only one, General Motors also now has nearly 100,000 vehicles waiting for missing components. Some companies are even stockpiling glass, as Germany’s Volkswagen reported a shortage of goods in Europe following its decision to increase its windshield and window stocks.
