Ford Almussafes it is clearly a factory exporter. Traditionally, most of the vehicles that left its production lines were destined for other European countries, the American firm being aware that several of these markets, by themselves, far exceeded the registrations that could be recorded in the national territory. Now this trend, far from being reversed due to the good sales data since the beginning of the year in Spain, is increasing.

Because so far in 2023 Only 5.5% of the plant’s vehicles – which, according to June data offered by the majority union, UGT, lost around 7.6% of its production compared to 2022 – have remained in the territory nationally, a decrease of half a point compared to the same moment of the previous year that has been taking shape while the factory has been losing models -the S-Max and the Galaxy, two vehicles that had Spain among their main markets, stopped being manufactured in April- and in the midst of the rebound that in the last four months have had the sales of vehicles of the brand of the oval in the continent.

european improvement

Not surprisingly, according to the data published this week by the European employers’ association for car manufacturers, ACEA, Ford sold until July in the countries of the European Union a total of 226,752 vehicles, 16,000 more (7.7% growth) than in 2022, experiencing the seventh improvement among the 15 main brands. It is a considerable improvement if one takes into account that, after the first quarter, Ford was the only major manufacturer whose sales were negative (-1.8%) compared to a year earlier.

Likewise, if the data from the United Kingdom is added to the balance, the American firm receives an even greater boost. Its interannual figures increase by 12.6% -equivalent to 35,500 more sales up to 317,225- and Ford is only surpassed in the increase in its sales by five manufacturersthree from the Volkswagen group -VW, Audi and Skoda- plus Renault and Dacia.

Importance of the Kuga

In this improvement it is relevant that it is the current emblem of Almussafes, the Ford Kuga, one of the pillars of improvement that the firm has. Specific, in July, it was the plug-in hybrid -one of its versions- that had the most registrations in Europe -more than four out of ten cars of this model produced in the factory travel to the United Kingdom, Germany or Italy- with 5,050 units sold, 116% more.
