Forecasters predict relief from heavy rain and flooding in Wayne County, Michigan as Friday is expected to be mostly dry. The county faced significant flooding on Thursday, blocking access to an airport terminal, inundating businesses and homes in Canton, and causing widespread power outages. In response to the flooding, Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency. Meanwhile, in Kent County on the west side of the state, a possible tornado struck a house and tree, though it has not been confirmed. Another large and dangerous tornado was reported in Ingham County. Tornado and thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the night but had ended by 11 pm. Efforts to clear the flooding continue, and the state’s emergency operations center has been activated to provide support to affected communities.
