Chennai: Customs officials confiscated 34.76 lakh rupees worth of foreign currency from passengers traveling to and from Sri Lanka and Dubai. Similarly, four passengers arrived on an Emirates flight to Dubai. Customs officials received confidential information that they were smuggling foreign currencies. Authorities searched the belongings of five passengers and found various foreign currency notes, valued at 34.76 lakh Indian rupees, including US dollars. From Kuwait, an Indigo flight arrived in Chennai on the heels of yesterday. One of the passengers had smuggled gold nuggets. As he was leaving the airport, he went to the toilet of the plane for fear of getting caught by the customs officials. The customs officials were informed about this. Authorities seized eight gold nuggets weighing 800 grams, valued at Rs 38.32 lakh, from the plane. Are constantly being investigated in this regard.
