Rabat – Foreign currency travel receipts posted a record of 9.4 billion dirhams (MMDH) in May, an increase of 11% compared to May 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy.
At the end of May 2024, the sector had thus accumulated a total of 41.3 billion dirhams, representing an overall increase of 1.6% compared to 2023, and 45% compared to 2019, the ministry said in a press release.
“Revenues have been growing again for two months, in line with our forecasts,” said the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the press release.
“We must maintain our mobilization with professionals and partners and continue to develop high-level tourist experiences and an attractive and income-generating offer,” said Ms. Ammor, noting the importance of promoting a deeper immersion in the local experience so that this momentum benefits local communities more.
