From 2019 to the second quarter of 2024, the Foreign Direct Investment in Tourism (IED) recorded 13 thousand 207.3 million dollars, 122% more than what was collected from 2013 to the second quarter of 2018, reported the secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marquis.

He explained that in the first half of 2024, the IED registered 1,373.9 million dollars, which is equivalent to 4.4% of the Foreign Direct Investment captured in the country for 31,096.3 million dollars, and exceeds the 1,242.9 million dollars captured in all of 2019, the year prior to the pandemic.

He stated that during the second quarter of 2024, the Foreign Direct Investment in Tourism, reached 820.2 million dollars, equivalent to 16.1% of the Foreign Direct Investment captured in the country, and exceeds the 375.4 million dollars recorded in the second quarter of 2019.

In the second quarter of 2024, the following stands out: IEDT in hotels with other integrated services with 752.7 million dollars, that is 91.8% of the total, and the area of ​​furnished apartments and houses with hotel services with 65 million dollars, a share of 7.9%, and together they represent 99.7% of the total IEDT.

Torruco reported that during the period April-JuneBy 2024, the countries that recorded the largest flow of FDI were: Spain with 634 million dollars and the US with 117.4 million dollars.
