Minister Bui Thanh Son: The expanded G7 summit taking place in Hiroshima from 20-21 May 2023 under the chair of Japan was a great success.
With 3 sessions of “Working together to deal with multiple crises,” “Common efforts for a sustainable planet” and “Towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world,” the leaders discussed , assess and propose solutions to solve global challenges, especially economic recovery, food security, health security, gender equality, response to climate change, energy security , environmental protection.
First, the expanded G7 Summit adopted the Hiroshima Declaration of Action on global food security and self-resilience, setting out groups of solutions to respond to the immediate food crisis, enhancing resilience to prevent similar crises in the future and ensure nutrition for all. This is a remarkable result, demonstrating Japan’s leading efforts as well as the determination of G7 countries and guests in solving urgent and fundamental problems affecting many aspects of people’s lives.
Second, the leaders agreed that it is necessary to create new driving forces to promote economic recovery and growth, and to realize the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.
The Conference welcomed the G7 Global Investment and Infrastructure Partnership Initiative (PGII) and Japan’s Asian Zero Emissions Community Initiative (AZEC); agreed to promote initiatives to mobilize financial resources for development, promote public-private cooperation in infrastructure development.
