Italy also manages to attract foreign scholars. Usually we read of Italian scientists who take their bags and go to work abroad, where they often get prestigious positions. For some years there has been the phenomenon of returning brains, Italian researchers who return to their homeland thanks also to new legislation that favors these movements. There are not many foreigners who choose Italy, and even fewer are those who arrive in the Bel Paese bringing scholarships and funding of millions of euros that they have obtained for their research. Those who come to us bring new skills and ideas, but find themselves fighting against two obstacles that at times seem insurmountable: the heavy university bureaucracy and the difficulty in teaching directly in English in many national faculties.
