Manuel Monsalve, Undersecretary of the Interior, instructed the expulsion of foreign citizens arrested for attacking members of the Carabineros in the Franklin neighborhood, in the commune of Santiago.

The attack against the uniformed officers occurred this Thursday and went viral on social media, where The police were attacked with punches and kicks by a group of immigrantswithin the framework of identity controls in this sector.

In light of this, Monsalve pointed out in social networks “In Chile we will not tolerate aggression against our police forces. I have instructed the expulsion of the aggressors of the Carabineros officers in the Franklin neighborhood. We will not allow them to come and disturb our peaceful coexistence.”

The Undersecretary of the Interior further elaborated on his statements in 24 Horas, stating that “I spoke with the Carabineros, there are two detained Colombian nationals in an irregular situation. I have asked that the rest of the participants be identified as far as possible and I have instructed them to use this extraordinary power that is currently rooted in the Undersecretariat, which is expulsion for reasons of internal insecurity in the country.”

This attack against Carabineros left a balance of 18 detainees, including two Colombian citizens, those who are in an irregular immigration situation, for whom their prompt expulsion is expected.
