Forest educators from 13 countries gathered at Yundola Congress (Photos)

More than 120 experts and forest pedagogues from 13 European countries are participating in the 18th European Congress on Forest Pedagogy, which started today on the territory of the UOGS Educational Base “G. Avramov” Yundola and will continue until September 5.

The forum was opened earlier today by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Eng. Miroslav Marinov, who emphasized the leading role of forestry educators in the relationship between society and foresters and promotion of the forestry profession.

Bulgaria’s hosting of the 18th European Congress on Forest Pedagogy is proof of the achieved results and evaluation of the efforts of forest educators, who for more than 15 years have turned working with children into a part of the forestry work and the most reliable prevention for forest protection and their good stewardshipsaid Eng. Stoyan Toshev, Executive Director of the Forestry Executive Agency during the opening of the forum.

He emphasized that the forestry games are a strong focus of the campaigns that the Forestry Executive Agency conducts. Since the launch of the latest campaign, which began in early July and is connected to the fire season, more than 1,300 children from all over the country have participated.

During the next two days, the forum will continue with discussions and exchange of good practices and proposals for new methods and approaches to improve the activity.
