Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The municipality of Mosul warned, on Wednesday, citizens of a gang that forged receipts in its name to allocate and sell plots of land, stressing that the used seal had already been stolen during the control of the terrorist “ISIS” over Mosul.

The phenomenon of counterfeiting real estate bonds is a serious problem faced by some governorates in Iraq, and is related to the forgery of real estate ownership documents, especially those that witnessed security and administrative chaos after the control of the terrorist organization ISIS.

Real estate bonds are forged by forging signatures or forging official documents required to prove real estate ownership. Fraudsters change property information or create completely fake documents for properties that do not exist in reality.

The director of the municipality, Abdul Sattar al-Habbo, said in an interview that there is a gang that allocates plots of land to citizens through forged receipts for 500,000 dinars, noting that the receipts are sealed with an old stamp that was previously stolen from the municipality during the terrorist “ISIS” control of the city.

When real estate deeds are forged, fraudsters can sell or rent the fake real estate to someone else. This results in significant financial losses for the victims who buy or deal in fake real estate.
During the last two decades, Nineveh witnessed widespread forgery of real estate belonging to the state and others belonging to absent citizens, in which employees participated and pressured by influential groups, as these real estate constitute a door to reaping tens of millions of dollars.

The counterfeiting of real estate deeds causes legal disputes between the real buyers of the real estate and the people who bought the fake real estate. Resolving these disputes may take time and significant legal efforts to establish the truth and recover the property.

And when there is widespread fraud in real estate bonds, this affects public confidence in the real estate system. Confidence in the authenticity and authenticity of real estate documents may deteriorate, and the deterioration in the real estate market will increase.
