The Office of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has developed and released the 2023-2033 Development Plan for Armenia-Diaspora Cooperation. In an interview with “Armenpress”, RA Chief Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan noted that the strategy is based on the vision of building a pro-state Diaspora.
“We expect to work with the Diaspora based on the principles of respect, focusing on the issues of deepening the ideology of state-building and state-centeredness. It is evident that the Diaspora lacks statehood. Given that our compatriots in Armenia are engaged in state-building, this absence exists in the Diaspora. We must work with the Diaspora, with the state at its center. This isn’t about egoism, but recognizing that the state is the guarantee not only of Armenia’s Armenian identity but also of the Armenian people and the continuation of the Diaspora.”
Sinanyan further stated, “A strong state is essential for the existence of the Diaspora. If the Diaspora has survived in the Middle East for decades, it cannot exist for long without an anchor, and that anchor is the state.”
