The director of the Red Crescent branch in Quba, Salah Al-Farjani, explained that “an emergency room was formed by decision of the mayor, to monitor climate forecasts and weather fluctuations.”

Al-Farjani added to the Libyan Al-Anbaa newspaper, “The tasks of this room also include coordinating with all relevant agencies inside and outside the municipality to monitor the conditions of dams and valleys and to put in place all necessary measures and procedures to confront any repercussions and floods that may occur and to limit their impact in a way that ensures the protection and safety of citizens and their property.”

Al-Farjani confirmed that “the last two days, a meeting was held at the Security Directorate, which included the head of the chamber – the mayor – the head of the Municipal Guard branch, the director of the General Company for Cleaning Services, a representative of the Water Resources Office, a representative of the General Electricity Company, a representative of the Libyan Relief Authority, and the director of the General Company for Water and Sanitation, during which all matters related to the winter season and the plan being implemented were discussed.”

The director of the Red Crescent branch said: “We asked the mayor during the meeting to provide all the capabilities and to address the Libyan government to provide them.”

Al-Farjani continued: “We contacted the General Administration of the Red Crescent, and the response was quick, as the Director of Operations and Disasters, Ziad Al-Darsi, contacted us and provided all non-food items and capabilities such as furniture, blankets, and electric heaters. We are waiting for the shipment of food supplies.”

The branch manager indicated that “the mayor of Al-Quba and the municipal guard were contacted and the shipment was received in their presence,” extending his thanks to “the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, for providing a four-wheel drive ambulance to the Al-Quba Red Crescent.”

The General Secretariat of the Libyan Red Crescent provided urgent aid to the Al-Qubbah Red Crescent branch due to the expected weather fluctuations during the coming few days. The urgent non-food aid arrived in the presence of the Mayor of Al-Qubbah Municipality, the Head of the Emergency Room in Al-Qubbah Municipality, and the Branch Manager.
