Manish Sisodia was the Deputy Chief Minister in Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi. He was accused of corruption through liquor policy. On 26th, CBI arrested him after 8 hours of interrogation.
With the permission of the court, he was interrogated for 7 days in CBI custody. Sisodia was produced in a special court in Delhi yesterday afternoon as the CBI custody ended.
Special Judge MK Nagpal ordered him to be remanded in judicial custody for 14 days till March 20. Subsequently, he was lodged in Tihar Jail.
Sisodia has been given permission to supply prescribed medicines, 2 pairs of nose glasses, a diary, a pen and a Bhagavad Gita book. The court directed the jail authorities to consider Sisodia’s request to be confined in a room with meditation facilities.
Last week, Sisodia, who resigned as deputy chief minister following his arrest by the CBI, moved the Supreme Court seeking bail. The Supreme Court refused to intervene and asked the High Court to approach it. Sisodia’s bail plea will be heard on the 10th. In the bail application, he has stated that the CBI is asking the same questions repeatedly and this is causing emotional distress.
The Aam Aadmi Party government, which has denied the allegations of corruption, has accused it of revenge by the BJP.
