As the Karnataka elections are approaching, former Deputy Chief Minister of the state Laxman Savadi has left the BJP and joined the Congress party.

The Karnataka assembly elections will be held on May 10. The election field has heated up as there is a tough competition between the ruling BJP and the Congress. Congress released its list of candidates first. BJP announced its list of candidates two days ago.

In the list of candidates released by the BJP, many including 18 sitting MLAs were not given a chance. Due to this, the disgruntled people raised the flag of war against the BJP. As a result, the former deputy chief minister of the state, Laxman Savadi, left the BJP and joined the Congress party.

With the elections just days away, the party said that this change would strengthen the Congress party. Siddaramaiah, former chief minister of the state and senior Congress leader, said that he will contest from the Athni constituency, which is preferred by Laxman Savadi. Laxman Savadi was the MLA from 2004 to 2018 in this constituency.

Meanwhile, state president Arun Singh said that there is no setback for the BJP due to Laxman Chavadi’s withdrawal. Arun Singh said that soon Laxman Chavadi will understand the true face of Congress. Polling for all 224 constituencies in Karnataka will be held in a single phase on May 10. It is to be noted that the counting of votes will be held on May 13 and the results will be announced.
