Involved in the Economic Advisory Committee for the First Time,Reserve of India Former Governor of the Bank Raghuram Rajan met the Chief Minister.
Tamil Nadu’s economic growth has been sluggish for the past few years. The government is making every effort to reverse this trend. An ‘Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister’ was set up to advise the government on paving the way for achieving these development goals.
The panel will make its general recommendations on issues related to economic and social policy, social justice and human development, especially equal opportunities for women, the welfare of the underprivileged, and advise on promoting economic growth, employment and state productivity growth, and raising the overall financial position of the state.
In that regard, Chief Minister MK Stalin has consulted with the committee twice so far on issues including the economic downturn in Tamil Nadu due to the Corona impact. Following this, Raghuram Rajan, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and a member of the Economic Advisory Council, met the Chief Minister at the Chennai General Secretariat.
It is reported that in this consultation, the economic situation of Tamil Nadu, the steps to be taken to improve the economic situation, the implementation of the pending projects and the appropriate funding were discussed. The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including Finance Minister PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan and Chief Secretary Irayanpu.
