Tokyo: The body of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was cremated yesterday.

A campaign meeting was held on behalf of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in Nara city on the 8th of Japan on the occasion of the upper house of parliament election. Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe participated and collected votes. Then Yamagami, an ex-naval soldier, shot him. Shinzo Abe was seriously injured and died at the hospital.

His body was laid to rest at his home in the capital, Tokyo, for public tribute. Over the past few days, thousands of people have gathered to pay their respects to the late leader.

Shinzo Abe’s funeral was held yesterday. His body was laid to rest at a Buddhist temple in Tokyo and a special prayer was held. Abe’s wife Aki, Prime Minister Bumio Kishida and others participated in it.

Abe’s body was then carried in a procession. The body was taken through the Liberal Democratic Party headquarters, Parliament and the Prime Minister’s Office. Thousands of people gathered along the route and paid their respects. Finally the vehicle reached the cemetery. Shinzo Abe’s body was cremated there according to Buddhist tradition.
