On July 9, the protesters took over the President’s House in Colombo and started a demonstration. Regarding this protest, former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya said:

I also joined the protestors. I participated in the previous protest as well. I have been supporting this struggle since day one. I too have been struggling for the past 3 months. 9th July is the public day of protest.

They say they haven’t officially resigned yet. Being involved in the struggle does not mean that I will join politics. I will not join politics.
