Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) president and former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu has been arrested. He was arrested from his Uttara residence in the capital on Monday (26 August) afternoon.

Former Minister Hasanul Haque Inu arrested

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Intelligence Branch (DB) Gulshan Zone Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ziauddin confirmed the matter and said that there are cases against Inu in various police stations.

According to DMP sources, he was arrested in a murder case registered at Newmarket police station.

It is to be noted that Jasd president Hasanul Haque Inu, one of the members of the 14 parties led by Awami League, served as the information minister in the government during the 2014-2019 period with the boat symbol. In the last 12th parliamentary election, he lost to the party’s rebel candidate by wearing the Awami League’s symbol boat.

Sheikh Hasina’s government fell on August 5 in a mass uprising by students. After that, a case is being filed in the case of students and crowd being killed in a clash with the law enforcement forces during the anti-discrimination student movement program. Hasanul Haque Inu has been accused in some such cases.

Before this, Rashed Khan Menon, the president of Bangladesh Workers Party, a member of the 14-party alliance, and a former member of parliament, was arrested from Gulshan in the capital on August 22.
