Former official jailed for publishing DBS users’ information without permission

A former DBS official was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison today (21 November) for the unauthorized disclosure of DBS users’ information.

The 32-year-old man’s name is Liong Yan Sin.

He pleaded guilty to 10 charges against him.

A further 42 charges will be considered.

It has been revealed that he searched the details of 10 people in 2018, despite knowing that he should not access users’ details without permission.

That includes his family and friends.

Finding this out, DBS filed a police complaint against him in 2018.

To help Leong’s former colleague Dinath Silvamany Muthalliyar, he released the salary details of his colleagues.

In addition, it has been revealed that he also disclosed the personal details of Kelly, who disappeared after taking a loan from Leong’s acquaintance Ang Kok How (Ang Kok How).

Leong’s sentencing could be postponed until December.
