Former Palmeiras player, Andrei Girotto is presented by Al Taawoun, from Saudi Arabia: “New challenge in my life”

Andrei Girotto’s long marriage to Nantes has come to an end. After six seasons at the French club, the defender agreed to transfer to Al Taawoun, from Saudi Arabia, who presented him this Thursday. He is yet another player to migrate to this market, where the eyes of the football world will be focused this season.

Girotto was already doing pre-season with Nantes when the France team received the proposal from Al Taawoun. According to the athlete, it was a long negotiation, because he still had one more year left on his contract with the Ligue 1.

The Arabs made a great effort to take him and the player also wanted a change of scenery. In this way, Nantes ended up agreeing to release him in the face of a good proposal for both sides. The ex-palm trees signed with the Saudi team for two years, with an option for one more.

“In fact, Al Taawoun did everything to sign me, and Nantes saw that it was a good proposal for me. I am sad to leave the club, for which I have great affection. I won the title, I gained the respect of the fans, my family always lived well in the city, my daughters were born there, I spoke French well, I was 100% adapted”, began the defender.

Girotto continued: “But I started this new challenge in my life, a new stage in my career. I’m happy to be able to be part of this moment that the Arab league is experiencing, which has everything to be of a high level”.

The defender goes to his third experience outside Brazil. In addition to France, he also played in Japan, where he defended Kyoto Sanga in 2016, shortly after shining for Palmeiras. Now, at Al Taawoun, he will once again be commanded by an all-Brazilian coaching staff, led by coach Péricles Chamusca.

“I’m going to have this opportunity to work with a committee made up entirely of Brazilians, led by Chamusca. In his team, assistant Claudinho, with whom I worked at the America-MG. In addition, there are three other players from Brazil in the squad: goalkeeper Maílson, defensive midfielder Flávio and striker Matheus, who is arriving from Japan. And that will facilitate my adaptation”, concluded the athlete.

Al Taawoun’s debut in saudi championshipwhich will be broadcast in Brazil by Band, Band Sports and the streaming channel GOATwill take place this Sunday, away from home, against Al Fateh.
