Carlos Mario Jiménez, known as “Macaco”, former head of the Central Bolívar block of the Self-Defense Forces, assured this Thursday that Leonidas Bustos, former president of the Supreme Court of Justice, and Néstor Humberto Martínez, former attorney general, joined forces to “destroy” the now president Gustavo Petro.

“The other component of truth that I will provide, with details, tends to the unconditional support that former magistrate José Leonidas Bustos gave in multiple ways in favor of Néstor Humberto Martínez, with the firm intention of systematically prosecuting and destroying, through the Prosecutor’s Office, the image of today’s president, Gustavo Petro, on his way to the future political aspiration that he developed at that time,” said the former paramilitary chief.

The ex-paramilitary assured that he will provide the whole truth, with documents, when the JEP sets a date for a hearing to provide truth, similar to the one held months ago by Salvatore Mancuso, in which both aspire to be welcomed by that Court of Peace.

Foreign Minister Álvaro Leyva assured this Thursday that ties will be strengthened with Ecuador to cooperate in the search for people reported missing in that country.

The announcement comes after the so-called “Meeting for the truth” in which alias Macaco, who was the top leader of the Central Bolívar bloc of the AUC, confessed to the existence of graves on the border and his responsibility for the forced disappearance of the victims. .

Although in the extrajudicial statement this Thursday he did not go into details, he promised to expand his statements in his only version of truth before the JEP.

“We are going to contact Ecuador, as we did with Venezuela, to find the protocols that allow us to search for the bodies of Colombians who rest on that land outside the sample,” said the Foreign Minister.

Precisely for these purposes, at the end of June the governments of Colombia and Venezuela signed the declaration on cooperation in the search for persons reported as missing.

In this way, multidisciplinary teams came together in order to locate the bodies for their recovery, identification and dignified delivery to their loved ones, responding to the principles of truth and non-repetition.

The first finding was that of a crematorium in the Juan Frío township (Norte de Santander) that had been warned by former paramilitary chief Salvatore Mancuso, in a hearing before the JEP.

There will be six issues that Jiménez offered to reveal before the JEP magistrates that include “relevant and unknown aspects of the so-called parapolitics and the toga cartel” and the alleged infiltration of the AUC and other illegal armed groups in Ecopetrol.

He also assured that he will tell how the paramilitaries “infiltrated and corrupted high court magistrates” to interfere in investigations into “serious corruption events” and other issues, such as presidential re-election.

Lastly, he will describe how he acted in his role as financier of self-defense groups and later as commander of the Bolívar AUC Central Bloc.

“I reiterate that I will be attentive to the date set by the JEP to provide all relevant testimonial, documentary evidence,” he said.

During his speech, which was read, Jiménez apologized to Foreign Minister Leyva for having become a “military objective” of the paramilitaries at the time, together with the pro-government senator Iván Cepeda and President Petro, as well as his family nucleus for the suffering they caused them.

“I cannot miss the opportunity to ask for a special pardon from the Chancellor of the Republic, Dr. Álvaro Leyva Durán,” he said.

“What he has stated here really shows that we must necessarily know the total truth,” Leyva declared, once Jiménez’s demonstration had concluded.

“It makes me sad as a Colombian that what you have said here ends up being absolutely true, because around each statement from what I have understood there are names and surnames, concrete situations, absolutely prepared facts that show that without a doubt it is necessary not to repetition,” added the Foreign Minister, noting that it will be the JEP that will have to contrast Jiménez’s versions, once it learns of them.
